sorry i didn't see this comment until now! and i apologize for the confusion. yes it is indeed just songs about blues. i mean if it were just blues songs... (at least to me) it would be impossible to pick a top five. so i decided to go with songs about the blues (having the blues). i had a hard time with songs that are titled "something something blues," for example "turtle blues" by big brother and the holding company or "ventilator blues" by the stones. it is titled that because it is about having the blues i guess.. but doesn't explicitly talk about having the blues. it's a fuzzy line. sorry!

so this list has to be songs about the blues? meaning it pretty much explicitly has to mention the blues? what about songs like 'old brown shoe' by george harrison, or 'revolution' by lennon? those are both fantastic blues songs, but they're just bluesy, not actual blues songs...
