the coolest guy ever (in hangzhou)
so there's this guy here who is quite likely the coolest guy ever (in hangzhou). he gets off everyday at my bus stop, and we usually chat for a bit. his accent is super thick (not to mention the fact that my chinese is not so good), so we don't often communicate, but it's just enough for me to know that he's the coolest guy ever. everyone here calls him master fei.
he came into my office today and asked why i wasn't going on the company field trip this weekend. i told him i was going to shanghai, and i was bummed that i couldn't go on the field trip. he asked me how old i was (i'm surprised it took this long), and asked what chicago was like. (i love it-- people here tell you you live in a great city as if they've been there for ages. or how other people say they like new york better than chicago because they're both crazy and because they think friends is really that accurate a show.)
it was a nice chat. after a while, he got up to leave, mumbled something, and said "time to go." i said thanks for stopping by.
about twenty seconds later, he came in a dropped a little magazine type thing on my desk. there was a pretty woman on the cover, whom he pointed at and looked at me. i figured it was a guidebook or something for hangzhou. i looked at him, confused.
then i realized it was a women's clothing catalog, complete with photos of... well... incomplete outfits.
the instant i realized, he burst into laughter, looked at me and said "good?!" and left.
haha. coolest guy ever (in hangzhou).

hahahahaha. Who's the coolest guy ever (in the universe)? That guy from your old China place, or Neil? Or Tony Danza?
