hong kong: the subtle delights

I've been in hong kong now for about a week. sadly, I've been a bit out of touch with reality as my hong kong sim doesnt have GPRS (the data connection for my iPhone). I guess GPRS is so expensive here that no one has it, so no stores have the sim cards for it. so email has been rough, peterdot limited to before/after bed. no online Chinese dictionary. no google to help solve arguments about the population of Chicago and Hangzhou. no last.fm scrobbles. the world can be a scary place.

every now and then of check for wifi signals. since this city has a bajillion people, they have a zillion wifi networks. all secure. damn. but pccw, the hong kong cell company, has a wifi network virtually everywhere. it requires a registration, so I never bothered.

but I just found out it's free! (for 30 days, but I leave Tuesday!)

so now I have data nearly everywhere! woot woot!

Wireless internet here is never free. It's like 3.50 (7 dollars) for 2 hours most of the time. Rock on America.
