hostage

so we have a small office in shanghai. it's just a sales office, but they've got a real small warehouse for storing their stuff.

i guess some customer had a real bad credit record, so we said we'd only give them their goods if they put some money up front. usually, we ask for a small payment, but for them, we asked for a bit more.

they didn't pay it. but they really really wanted their valves. i mean, i guess it's understandable. when you're home tired, maybe watching a movie, and you realize, holy crap, i really need those valves. but we wouldn't give the valves to them unless they paid us a bit.

so what did they do? well, the only thing they really could do. they bought some padlocks and chains, went to the shanghai office, locked them in, and said we're not letting you out til we get our valves.

so the poor shanghai office was held hostage for a valve ransom for over 24 hours! and the funniest thing was that the police were there almost the whole time, but rather than arresting the silly bastards and just breaking the locks, they tried to see who was at fault. whaaaa?!!
