bikes!
i love riding bikes...
fast!
so all around hangzhou, there are these special red bikes with neato baskets that are locked up to weird metal things. if you have a bus card with 200+ yuan on it (about US$30), you can tap your bus card on the metal thing and the bike is yours. it's free for an hour, and 1yuan (about $.12) every hour after that. how great is that?!
the best part of the whole thing is that you can take a bike from here, ride it to where you're going, and drop it off there! these places are all over downtown. it's so much more fun (and a bit dangerous) than the buses!
so daisy and i went, yesterday, all over the place by bike. it felt great. i was giddy riding by all the losers sitting in traffic in their fancy cars. while daisy feared my comments would result in a serious ass-whooping, i couldn't stop laughing and shouting "haha you guys are in traffic! we're going faster than you!" (in chinese: 哈哈 堵车堵车!我们比你们快很多!)
i've decided that i'm gonna take these bikes as much as i can. the only reason it took until now is because hangzhou makes adding money to your bus card ridiculously difficult (if it's not the last three or so days of the month, you can only go to one place in the whole city, and it has to be before 5:00pm). the closest bike place to me is still about a 40 minute walk, so sadly, i'll still have to take the bus a little bit.
yay for bikes!
comments:
now, the closest bike place to you is only a 10 minute walk, so awesome!
