success of iPhone

i'm sorry to keep going on about this. but i've been reading articles and i just don't get it. why was everyone so pessimistic about the iPhone? and why is everyone so pessimistic about apple? why does my stock keep going down (or at least not up) even though apple is doing fantastic on all fronts?

apple sold more iPhones in the last quarter than RIM sold blackberries.

i think, at this point, it isn't even arguable that the iPhone was a success. apparently, it was far greater a success than people had anticipated. so why are people still saying it's going to fail? i know you all are probably passing this off just because of my belief in the apple god, but hear me out for just a second.

• the iPhone is simple. anyone can figure out how to use it, once they've had a few minutes to figure out how the I/O works (for example, touching vs releasing, two fingers, etc... essentially, to "get a feel for it").
• while the app store may not be everyone's favorite, it has clearly contributed to the iPhone's success. it gives the developers a clear, simple SDK to develop on. people can buy apps for [usually] cheap, yet the developers make a fortune because apple takes such a small cut.
• it is very sexy. i hate using that as a reason. but really. i used my other phone (i have three phones for use with seven SIM cards), and i couldn't believe how ugly it was.
• it made people realize that mobile phones in america really do suck
• it makes sense. the little features of the iphone, i think, are what make me love it. the single button lock, the clide-your-finger unlock, the one "abort" button (home), the universal buttons and functions, constant across all apps.

and for all you naysayers, well, i just don't get it. hell. even saulemander got one.

[update: i forgot why i posted this, but just remembered. check out this list of negative naysaying neenerbrains regarding the iPhone. oooh! how wrong were they?!]
