belgians: the smartest breed?

oh, how proud i am to be a belgian. i may not be from ghent, but it's practically next door, right?

the bbc reported today that ghent, a belgian city of about a quarter million people, will go vegetarian.

once a week, the city will have a "veggie day", where, initially, government folk and students will eat vegetarian meals. according to the bbc, they are doing this to recognize the "impact of livestock on the environment." they say that livestock is responsible for nearly one-fifth of global greenhouse gas emissions. apparently, that leaves about three fifths to cars, and the remaining twenty percent to me and Benji!.

and, perfect for me, they will have 90,000 veggie maps, showing you where to go to get a good veggie meal! sounds like paradise!
