travel photos
i need some advice on a few of my photos. my grandmother rosie suggested i enter a contest where the winner can go anywhere in the world, paid, in return for a good photo and essay about why it's important to me. there are a few images i'd like to submit, but i'm not sure. they need to be in the theme of traveling, and it seems most places think of traveling as far from what they know-- china, for example, is some "mystical place of the orient" and so forth. and i'm completely in love with that country, so i thought it would be perfect. so there are a few images:
please let me know what you think. i also need to write an essay about it, and i think you can imagine which of those pictures are meaningful (or bullshit about being meaningful). either way, hope you enjoy looking! (these, and more, can all be seen in my best of china flickr set)

i vote for cliffside temple. it is the most aesthetically interesting to me. most unique as well. don't go with sunrise, it's too cliche. unless you think that is what they're looking for. sometimes those kinds of competitions pick more cliche type stuff. sometimes competitions actually go for the different stuff. otherwise i vote for pagoda, it could work nicely with the right essay. if not those, i say the great wall. nice photos peter!

I vote for pagoda or sunrise. I wouldn't go for the great wall.

wow... i find it interesting that no one likes the great wall one, since that was the one that initially got my grandma interested in me doing this... i'm still not sure where i stand. though i do like the pagoda picture quite a bit. i have a bunch of other pagoda pictures if you'd like to see others... thanks for the advice and the compliments, everyone!

i vote pagoda or or stone forest, great wall seems to cliche as with sunrise, emi shan seems like a brochure pic. pagoda is a neat photo, but is kind of "touristy like"(if that makes sense), something about how top heavy the stone forest looks gets my attention, maybe try it in black and white...tell you the truth i think u have taken better pics..not trying to be an ass

Pagoda vote from me. Cool photo w/out looking like a brochure. Hard to make a decision!

i like your 'abyss' photo on flickr. after that, i like the stone forest. i think the photos are all so awesome. but i think that if you can have an element in it that makes one take a step back and think... like, i've totally seen this pictures before, but... wait... that's diffrerent... you know? like the great wall photo is somethign that, although awesome (and the composition is really nice), i feel like i've seen a lot of them. so something that shows not something standard, but something that is a reason you like travelling... i'm writing way too much. i'll email you my thoughts

My votes go for either the Pagoda or Emei Shan, since they're both very unique places and show your excellent photography skilz. Yes, I used a "z".
