random wonderings (part 1)
a lot of you are scientists, which means you may know this.
suppose you have equal amounts of water in two containers, one cold and one warm. would the resulting temperature differ if you poured the warmer water into the colder or if you poured the colder water into the warmer, assuming the surrounding environment is half way between each temperature, as is the cup, the rate of pouring is very slow, and all other factors are constant? would this differ depending on the material being mixed?
i assume each combination would yield the same result, but i thought i'd ask.
[note: i have a lot of time on my hands, and these are the sort of things i've spent most of my time thinking about]
