1. Quicksilver By Blacktree you need a mac for this one. honestly, it's worth getting a mac to use this
2. Vim truly is amazing. i find myself hitting ':w' after i make changes in any app (which often results in problems), and i get upset every time i have to manually move to a new line and hit return instead of merely pressing 'o'
3. Adobe Photoshop this app is pretty incredible. i've tried millions of others, but nothing quite compares
4. Maya By Alias unbelievable how powerful this app is.
5. Transmit By Panic i know i'd be real hip if i just did all of my ftp stuff through the terminal, but i like being able to update several files with one double click and never worry about messing something up. plus, you can drag and upload files to set locations by merely dragging onto a dock icon. that's cool! plus, i wanna work for this company. check it out here.

note: this excludes operating systems.

1. Vim I spend more time in this little guy than anything else. And I know about .0001% of what there is to know about it. Go and download it! http://www.vim.org
2. Quicksilver By Blacktree I used to be more of a fan than I am now. I am getting too used to tab completion in the terminal.
3. Omnioutliner Pro looks good, and works good.
4. NetNewsWire Very good interface design.
5. BBEdit Great, great text editor. Just too expensive.
