this is way hard to narrow down to five. The following could tie with that last spot: Willem de Kooning, Morris Louis, Helen Frankenthaler, Diane Arbus, Robert Motherwell, and Pollock- not for aesthetics, but for what he did for art in America. well, i'm just a big fan of abstract expressionism.. and what it did for American art. Ones that would never be close to my top five: Ansel Adams, Salvador Dali
