1. | Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind | this gets a big fat hands down. there is no question in my mind as to whether or not this is number one. in my opinion, this is the realest kind of love: a love that grows slowly but strongly, a love that is based on all the little things rather than a single big thing that is obviously just a distraction. the little things are all that matters. and that one scene where she asks if she's ugly...
2. | Before Sunset | amazing writing. though this love may not be what love i can imagine myself actually being in, it's a kind of romanticized (ha) love
3. | Bonnie And Clyde | a slightly unconventional love movie, but incredible.
4. | Once | i just saw this movie and didn't even think twice about adding it to this list. amazing.
5. | Leon The Professional | unconventional, yes. but those two really loved each other |
note: this list is compiled with specific criteria involved. these movies are what i would consider to be representations of the realest love, whatever that means, as demonstrated in an additionally remarkable film. not only are these great movies of any genre, but they are specifically love movies that really represent something special that we all know, wish to know, once knew, or hope for. note that i did not put the graduate on here. though it's a fantastic movie, allegedly about love, it is far from love in the movie.
also mentionable: amelie, finding neverland, lost in translation, adaptation (though that was more of a love out of loneliness and wanting something else), sideways (solely for the scene when he finds out why she doesn't drink any more), grave of the fireflies, the industrial revolution never seemed so attractive, monsters inc, sex lies and videotape, hero, ice age, finding nemo, and so many more...

Once truly was amazing

since i can't seem to edit my comment, i'll just add. secretary is a great love movie because it shows that we all love differently, but the love is just as great and just as real.

also, i think secretary is a good love movie

no, kate, i haven't, but i'd love to watch it some time. i'm always in the mood for a cheesy love movie. especially if, like you say, it's similar to these movies

Have you ever seen the French movie "Love Me If You Dare" ? It came out our senior year of high school, and reminds me of some of the movies you've posted here.

hmm. that was a great movie, and definitely made me bawl after seeing it. but for some reason, the old people part just made me upset. it seemed real, maybe a little romanticized, but with the old people part i just stopped caring. except for the last scene... that was amazing

hell yeah eternal sunshine..watching mark ruffalo dance around in tighty whities is enough for me to fall in love. sigh. no but seriously, i agree it's an amazing love movie. but for me- i know it's seen as a super cheesy movie, but i think the notebook is one of the best love movies ever. i think i went home and bawled all night after the first time seeing that movie, thinking i'd never fall in love like that. the old person part is cheesy, but the love between allie and noah is incredible. as lame as i sound saying this, i think i could watch that movie everyday and not get sick of it.. because i want to love like that. plus its got one of the best quotes ever: "The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that's what you've given me. That's what I'd hope to give to you forever." sorry i didn't just post this on my own top five, but i can't think of any others.

4. | Lost In Translation | i hated this movie at first. but then i saw it a few more times. this movie is all about the love that we have all the time but take for granted. the kind of love that you fall into without realizing it until years later when just sitting around you think, wow, i really loved her
5. | Finding Neverland | the love in this movie was really special. it was beautiful, it was real, it was the kind of thing that makes you warm and fuzzy and tickle on the chest from the tear that somehow made it's way down there by an hour into the movie |
