after sunrise
since i've only recently relocated to this time zone from a zone twelve hours away, my body is still adapting. i must say, it's been adapting far quicker than the last time i was in southeast asia, but not perfect just yet.
anyway, for some reason, each time when i've come back from southeast asia, my body has adapted by not really sleeping at all. i've been going to sleep rather late, and this morning, i woke up around 5:00. i rolled around in bed for a bit, as i've had stuff on my mind and couldn't stop thinking about it, and decided to clear my mind up a bit and accept that i wasn't gonna go back to sleep. i got out of bed, made some coffee, got zoe on a leash and set out for the beach to watch the sunrise (which my iPhone conveniently told me was at 6:17, meaning i still had about a half hour).
the walk there was quite pleasant. it was nice to sip slowly on coffee and smell the fresh suburban air after avoiding any breathing through my nose due to pollution. when i finally got to the beach, the sky was already bright red. and no more than 5 minutes later, the sun was rising, like a bright red frisbee in the sky (anyone catch that reference?). it was beautiful. now that i think of it, that may have been the first sunrise i've seen over lake michigan. i wish i had done that many times before.
as the horizon reached halfway on the sun, zoe decided it was as good a time as any to freak out. she started going nuts, biting her leash (which i had to leave on because of random joggers), growling at the sand, and scratching me. sweet. it was a great way to end the moment.
anyway, i just thought i'd share that sunrises are awesome and my dog isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
today i'm seeing snoop dogg and the shins (though not at the same time, sadly)! woot!
